Guwahati, 5th April 2022:- The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) noticed earlier that there would be heavy rainfall or extremely heavy rainfall in Assam and Meghalaya.

On Monday around 7:30 p.m. there is heavy rainfall in the South Salmara Mankachar district of Assam and the West Garo Hills district of Meghalaya has received Extreme rainfall.



The wind speed is around 40-50 km per hour in Mankachar. It destroyed a lot of things impacting the daily life of The societies of this district. It destroyed too many trees, the wires of electricity and houses also.

Because of heavy rainfall electricity department has disconnected the electricity and in some places, trees fall on the electric wires which leads to a disconnect of electricity.

The heavy rainfall not only impacts the people but also animals such as birds and dogs those who live in the trees and under the trees have become homeless because the trees fall and block the roads.





The local people came into action and clear the road so that the transport can be done easily.

As the electricity has been disconnected the electricity department working hard to get back the electric wires to their position and give electricity to those districts as soon as possible.
